Helen Lucille McComas, 82, of Plato died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital from Lupus complications.

She was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Dunn Bar, Neb., daughter of Roy and Clara Schnittger Smallfoot. She and Clarence McComas were married June 6, 1949, in Fall City, Neb.

She worked several years sewing baseballs for Rawlings. She enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, embroidery and gardening. She helped on the family farm for many years.

She was a longtime member of Roby Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four siblings; and an infant daughter.

Survivors include her husband, Clarence; two daughters, Kathy Jo McComas of the home and Patricia Von Holten of Springfield; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Memorial services were Sunday, July 12, at Roby Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pisgah Cemetery.
