A Springfield police officer is cited with leaving the scene of an accident following an incident Saturday on U.S. 63 in Houston.

Brock A. Kraxner, 25, of Springfield, is accused of striking a Ford F-150 pickup pulling a boat near Emmett Kelly Park, Houston police said. Officers said a vehicle crossed the centerline and struck the boat trailer driven by a Barnhart man, causing it to lose a tire and break an axle.

Based on eyewitness reports, the suspect vehicle was found behind a house on the parking lot of The Bank of Houston, where Kraxner was changing a tire. According to a report, Kraxner admitted hitting the vehicle and leaving the scene after he “freaked out.” A 23-year-old woman passenger was not cited. Kraxner told officers he wasn’t sure whether he planned to call or return to the scene following the crash.
