Revenue from sales taxes collected in Texas County dropped in 2008, according to a report from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally from a half-cent sales tax totaled $866,778, which was down $11,080 for the year. In December, the county received $82,566, which was down $23,972 compared to the same period a year ago.

County merchants also collect two, half-cent sales taxes for debt repayment on the county justice center and general operations. Each totaled about $82,500, down nearly $24,000 from a year ago. For the year, each contributed about $866,000, down about $10,500 each.
