An increased effort on impaired driving law enforcement netted 17 citations and warnings recently at Licking.

Police Chief Scott Lindsey said the ticket tally included one DWI, one felony arrest and one drug-related arrest.

“Driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is never worth the risk of a tragedy. We’re working to keep our roads safer,” said Lindsey.

DWI remains one of the top causes of fatal car crashes in Missouri. In 2006, 273 people in the state were killed in more than 7,900 alcohol-related crashes. For more information, visit www.saveMOlives.com.
