Officers from Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be selling “Torch Run” T-shirts to raise money to support Special Olympics Missouri. The T-shirts will be on sale at the Houston Wal-Mart Supercenter from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, with all proceeds going to benefit Special Olympics athletes from Texas County.
Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with mental retardation or closely related developmental disabilities. The culmination of the fund-raising efforts comes each year when law enforcement officers carry the “Flame of Hope” torch across the state to its final destination, the Special Olympics Summer Games in Columbia.
