Robert Dwain Platts, 83, son of Albert Warren and Bertha Viola Wilson Platts, was born Aug. 2, 1924, on a farm near Egan, S.D. He died May 22, 2008, at Mountain View Heath Care at Mountain View.

He graduated from Egan High School in 1943 and moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., where he met and married Colleen Rasmussen in 1953.

In 1953, they moved to Grand Junction, Colo., where he was parts manager for Moare Equipment Co. and United Construction Co. until he retired in 1999 at age 75.

His wife died in December 1996, and he married Lillian Ilene Honeycutt Young Hunt June 5, 1999, in Grand Junction. They lived there until July 2004, when they moved to Summersville.

The Platts enjoyed traveling, eating out and playing cards with friends. He enjoyed caring for his roses.

Mr. Platts was a member of the American Lutheran Church of Grand Junction. After moving to Missouri, he attended the First Baptist Church of Summersville. He was also a life member of the Elks Lodge.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Emma Kasdorf, Mildred Hale, Ruth Anderson and Marjorie Kolrush; two brothers, Albert and Donald Platts; and two stepchildren, Gary Young and Linda Dewitt.

Surviving are his wife; two sisters, Hazel Jackson and Dorothy Pletcher of Jackson, Minn.; four stepchildren, Daryl Young of Mountain Home, Ark., Steve Young of Kansas City, Connie Harris of Rayville and Jake Warren of Grand Junction, Colo.

Services were May 24 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Daryl Young officiating. Additional services were May 28 at Skroch Funeral Home at Flandreau, S. D. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery at Egan, S.D.
