A Houston woman will begin duties June 2 as city clerk for Houston.
Tonya Foster was selected among four candidates for the job that involves running the day-to-day operations of Houston City Hall. She will report to City Administrator Larry Sutton and the council and mayor.
Since 1995, Foster has been a management employee with Wal-Mart. Previously, she was the Sears catalog merchant in Houston before the company closed that portion of its business.
Sutton said late last week that Foster was selected among a field of quality candidates for the job.
Foster replaces Lorraine Aye, who resigned earlier.
