Hunters in Texas County killed 411 birds during the first week of the spring season, said the Missouri Department of Conservation. That’s up 43 from the same period a year ago.
The count: Adult gobblers, 316; bearded hens, six; and juvenile birds, 89.
The spring turkey season runs through May 11.
