A Kansas City woman was arrested at the South Central Correctional Center at Licking on Sunday after she was caught attempting to smuggle drugs, Licking authorities said.
The Licking Police Department responded to the facility after a report of a visitor suspected of delivering and possessing a controlled substance. Officers at the West Highway 32 facility said they observed a visitor acting suspiciously. When they confronted her, they found a substance that field-tested positive as cocaine, they said.
A search of the woman’s vehicle also found controlled substances.
The woman, 60, was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and distribution of a controlled substance into a prison facility.
The suspect was taken to the Texas County Jail to await charges. No name was released until charges are filed.
