Eunice Irene Dewey, 85, daughter of Hugh and Nellie Calloway Durand, was born July 9, 1922, at Rapid City, Neb. She died March 17, 2008, at Willow Care Nursing Home at Willow Springs.

She graduated from Fremont, Neb., High School and married Charles Dewey in 1942. They owned a printing shop in Fremont, Neb.

She loved to sew, do needlework, cook, take care of her flowers and square dance.

Mrs. Dewey was a grey lady, volunteering at the Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont, Neb., and a pink lady with the Texas County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Hugh Dewey; and two sisters, Shirley Knowlton and Fern Jenkins.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years of Houston; three sons, Patrick Dewey of Longmont, Colo., Martin Dewey of Houston and Ed Dewey of Lake Villa, Ill.; a daughter, Eileen Warner of Houston; one brother, George Durand of Nebraska; and 12 grandchildren.

Services are 6 o’clock tonight (Thursday) at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Steve Stillman officiating. Visitation is from 5 o’clock until time of services.

The body will be cremated following services.
