Helen June Hyde, 74, daughter of David and Helen Nimmo, was born June 7, 1933, at Peoria, Ill. She died Jan. 4, 2008, at the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool after a long illness.

The oldest of four children, she grew up at Elk Creek on a little farm.

When she was 17, she worked at the PX at Fort Leonard Wood, where she met a soldier, Randal Hyde. They were married June 2, 1951, and had four children.

Mrs. Hyde loved to quilt and was food service supervisor for more than 30 years at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

She was active in her church, participating in the Saturday morning ladies’ prayer group, involved in the Women’s Auxiliary and as a Sunday School teacher.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Surviving are her husband of more than 56 years; two sons, Ronnie Hyde and David Hyde of Mountain Grove; two daughters, Loretta Craft of Kansas City and Dianna Skyles of Mountain Grove; her mother of Springfield; one brother, David Nimmo of Marshfield; two sisters, Linda Emery of Isabella and Carol Cameron of Boonville; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 7 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Mountain Grove with the Rev. Bruce Moore and the Rev. Roger Flint officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home of Mountain Grove.
