The Houston Lady Tigers managed just five first-half points Tuesday night in a season-opening 46-18 loss at West Plains.

Houston (0-1) was held without a field goal until Amber Honig’s offensive putback in the third quarter. The Lady Tigers scored 10 of their 18 points in the final quarter.

“It was the first game of the year and we played like it,” Houston coach Brent Kell said. “It just seemed like we were a step slow all night.”

Kendra Welch led the Lady Tigers with four points. Shelbi Moore, Stephanie Dukes and Kate Harper scored three apiece.

Senior Holly Thomas, a first team all-conference selection last year, was held without a field goal.
