Paul Wesley Owen, 81, son of Homer Lee and Esta May Gobble Owen, was born May 18, 1926, at Houston. He died Nov. 8, 2007, at Texas County Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

He joined the Army when he was 17 and was honorably discharged in January1946.

He met and married Margaret James in 1947. They were married Feb. 12, 1949.

Mr. Owen was a heavy equipment mechanic, traveling to several states on difference job sites.

Mr. Owen realized his dream when they bought a farm at Bucyrus in 1958 and moved back in 1964 to operate a dairy farm. Because of the care he gave his cows, he won the Associated Milk Producers award for having clean milk and barn.

Mr. Owen was a master gardener, sharing his produce with family, friends and church members.

He was saved at age 12 in a revival conducted by the Rev. J.R. Halbrook at the Indian Creek schoolhouse. He joined the First Baptist Church in Houston at that time.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lester Owen; and a special nephew, Bruce Parker.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years; and two sisters, Emmagene Parker of Mountain Grove and Erma Lee Phillips of Loretto, Tenn.

Services were Nov. 12 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Howell Burkhead and the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
