The Houston Masonic Lodge is hosting a free child identification program from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday at the Houston Elementary School cafeteria.
The Missouri Child Identification and Protection Program is helping fight against missing and abducted children through its seminar. The program provides families with laminated ID cards and a computer disc that law enforcement agencies can read. It includes digital photos, digital fingerprints, child information and emergency contacts. Children also make a dental bite impression, which captures a DNA sample and can provide a source for scent if needed by a canine search team.
The program is available for children of all ages, from newborn to college age.
In the wake of the recent safe returns of two kidnapped Missouri boys, parents have been lining up for identification kits. Nearly 2,000 children are reported abducted or missing every day.
