The Houston City Council has narrowed the field to two for consideration to become Houston city administrator.
Mayor Steve Hutcheson said deliberations continue to find a replacement for Bill Bates, who retires Nov. 1.
Bates, who began duties in November 2000, has indicated he would assist in a part-time basis until his replacement is named. Among the tasks that must be accomplished is development of the city’s 2008 budget document. The council will ratify it in December.
Over the last two weeks, the city council and Mayor Steve Hutcheson narrowed the field. The finalists reside in Florida, Ohio, Kansas and Springfield.
