Douglas Warren Carroll, 58, son of Warren Gene and Carol Jean Colvin Carroll, was born Feb. 6, 1949, at Russell, Kan. He died Aug. 29, 2007, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
He graduated from Cabool High School in 1967, were he was co-captain of the football team and a member of the band.
He married Shirley Tetrick Dec. 3, 1982.
Mr. Carroll retired from Mid-America Dairymen in 2004 after more than 30 years.
After his retirement, he could be found in the mornings at the Corner Caf/. He spent his spare time tending to Missouri fox trotters. He was a member of the Twin River Trail Riders and Cabool and Willow Springs saddle clubs.
He spent many hours and countless miles in the saddle, making many friends through his love of the Missouri fox trotter.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Surviving are his wife of the home; son, Jason of Cabool; daughter, Lisa Carroll of Sullivan; mother of Cabool; one sister, Jeanie Wake of Cabool; four brothers, Dennis Carroll of Mountain Grove, David and Don Carroll of Cabool and Jeffrey Carroll of Phoenix, Ariz., and one grandson.
Services were Sept. 1 at the Mount Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Hubert Darter officiating. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Mountain Grove under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
Memorials may be made to the Twin River Trail Riders Ride Out Against Cancer.
