The Rev. Carl E. Hancock, 80, son of Guy and Bessie Slawson Hancock, was born Oct. 3, 1926, in St. Louis. He died Sept. 1, 2007.

The Rev. Hancock graduated from Crocker High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Doran.

He married Iva Lee Bond July 7, 1946.

The Rev. Hancock attended Central Bible College and was ordained with the Assemblies of God. He served more than 50 years, pastoring churches at Dixon, Vienna, Licking, Roby and Conway.

He was a long-time resident of Texas County, an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Berdette Hancock.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years; three sons, Reginald of Springfield, Don of San Antonio, Texas, and John of Nixa; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 5 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield with the Rev. Charles Harris officiating.
