A Houston man was arrested last week after he threatened to kill his common-law wife, police said.
Officers arrested Jeffery L. Wakenight, 22, of 503 King St., and, he is charged with unlawful use of a weapon.
A witness said Wakenight left the residence June 27 en route to kill his common-law wife at a residence at L & R Trailer. Police said they arrested him walking along the highway near a state maintenance shed on North U.S. 63. They confiscated a knife with a 4 1/2 -inch blade. He is held on $25,000 bond. His bond also was revoked on another unrelated charge.
In other matters, police:
-Arrested Michelle Terrell, 35, of Summersville, on June 30 on a warrant charging her with passing bad checks of $500 or more – no account/insufficient funds. Terrell was visiting an inmate at the Texas County Jail when she was arrested. She posted a $1,000 bond.
-Arrested Travis S. Phillips, 20, of Yukon, on July 2 on a charge of failing to appear on an original charge of passing bad checks. He posted $1,000 bond.
-Cited Anthony J. Jones, 46, of 8091 Mineral Drive, with driving while revoked on July 29. Jones also was wanted on a Wentzville warrant for not appearing on a traffic violation. He was held in jail on the latter count.
-Cited Eric S. Caswell, 19, of Huggins, with minor in possession of alcohol on June 28.
-Investigated the theft of a firearm from the James L. Jones, 53, of 412 Phelps. The .22-caliber semi-automatic Remington rifle was missing between June 14-28.
