Eugenia “Genie” Mae Carter, 80, daughter of Ewing “Lee” and Dessie Mae Amick Smith, was born April 6, 1927, in the Bado community. She died April 11, 2007, at Eureka.
She married Robert “Bob” Carter Feb. 15, 1946. They had two sons and three daughters.
Mrs. Carter was a member of the Union Baptist Church and worked for The Lee Co., retiring after 25 years of service.
Her family came first and foremost. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, making quilts and crafts for her family, camping and outdoor activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandsons; son, Larry; and brother, Ewing Jr. “Buck”.
Surviving are one son, Dal “Tom” Carter of Millington, Tenn.; three daughters, Linda Willson of Pacific, Sarah Carter of Ava and Robyn Vaughn of Lonedell; one brother, Euhlan Smith of Elsinore, Utah; two sisters, Euleen Walker of Houston and Joan Hutcheson of Huggins; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services were April 16 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Howell Burkhead officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
