Nettie Juanita (Nita) Tottingham/Akeman, 95, daughter of Jess and Opal (McKinney) Erwin was born February 18, 1924 at Solo, Mo. She passed away June 19, 2019, at Houston House, Houston, Mo.

Nita grew up in the Solo community and graduated from Houston High School.

She married Frank Leslie Tottingham on Dec. 27, 1944. After he died in an automobile accident Sept. 16, 1959, she married Doyle Waid Akeman on Nov. 21, 1962. Doyle died from the effects of a stroke in March 1998.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Leslie Tottingham and Doyle Akeman; two grandsons, Luke and Ryan; five sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Ronald Tottingham (Linda) and Donald Tottingham (Ann); twin daughters, Toot Bay (Jerry) and Boot Bohon (Doug); two step-children, Doyle Waid Akeman II and Cindy Thuer (Chuck); 12 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 22 step great-grandchildren.

She was very active in the community, enjoying the activities at the Houston Senior Center, participating in the exercise program and delivering Meals on Wheels. She was always involved with her church, Houston First Free Will Baptist.

Nita left a mark on a multitude of people in her active lifetime. Her goodness, helpfulness and charity are notable.

She was a wonderful mother and friend and will be missed by many who loved her and had grown to appreciate the special lady she was.

Services are 2 p.m. Saturday, June 22, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Delcour officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. The body will be cremated following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Houston Senior Center or Ozark Cemetery.
