Peggy Lou (Weber) Humphrey was born Sept. 1, 1954, to Delvin and Fern (Willhite) Weber at Lebanon, Mo. She passed away May 8, 2019, in Baton Rouge, La.

Peggy was preceded in death by her dad, Delvin Weber; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Albert and Mary Humphrey.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Jimmy; two sons, Mike Humphrey and wife, Crystal, and Jason Humphrey and wife, Rena; four grandchildren, Ty, Brooke, Morgan and Madison Humphrey; two step-grandchildren, Brad and Amber Johnson; her mom, Fern Weber; two brothers, Rick Weber and wife, Arleta, and Bob Weber and wife, Rhonda; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Peggy grew up and attended school in the Plato area, graduating from Plato High School in 1972. She married Jimmy Humphrey on May 19, 1973. They celebrated nearly 46 years together. Peggy worked at Ronnie’s AG Grocery Store in Evening Shade and as a department manager at St. Robert Walmart. She was also Plato Little League secretary for several years.

Peggy accepted the Lord as her Savior at a young age and was baptized. She was a faithful and active member of the Roby Baptist Church. Through the church, Peggy was the initiator and organizer of the “Christmas in July” program, which provides back-to-school clothes for needy children in the area. She was also active in the Snack Pack Program, a teacher at Vacation Bible School and a toddler room attendant at Roby Baptist Church.

Peggy was known for her cheerful, friendly and helpful nature. She was always happy to help anyone in need, and she was a friend to all.

Peggy and Jimmy could be seen at every sporting event and activity that their grandchildren were involved in. These grandchildren were the light of Peggy’s life. She enjoyed spending time with them and taking them places, and she was looking forward to future events. Peggy was also known for her love of Christmas, and the grandchildren looked forward to Mawmaw Peggy’s many Christmas decorations every year. Peggy looked forward to every holiday and family event, and she enjoyed having family dinners. Peggy also loved hosting summer dinners around their pool and swimming with the grandchildren. Her grandchildren knew they would be greeted with a hug and a smile when they came in the door.

Peggy was a blessing to her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed. Peggy’s memory will live on in the hearts of the many people she touched.

Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at Roby Baptist Church with Pastor Wes Mayfield officiating. Burial was in Palace Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Aaron Atterberry, Ben Good, Ty Humphrey, Brad Johnson, Ryan Weber, Jason Steinbach, Eric Crews and CP Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Weber, Bob Cook and Ronnie Atterberry.
