James T. Davis, 82, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2019, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Ashley Creek, son of Esco and Elsie Spencer Davis. He and Vicki Wells Bean were married in 1977.

He was raised on the family farm at Ashley Creek. He attended the University of Missouri for two years. From there he and some of his buddies worked their way to the west coast. After returning home, he worked five years for the highway department before spending 39 years as an engineer for Intercounty Electric. After retiring from Intercounty, he conducted pole inspections for them for 10 years.

He purchased an ice business and woodlot at Montauk for his children, Jimmy Ray, Diana, Kelly and Shelly, to work for the summer.

He loved his family, fishing and the lottery.

He dedicated his life to the Lord as a young child.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Jimmy Ray Davis.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Vicki of Licking; a daughter, Diana Davis Blackburn of Houston; two step daughters, Kelly Bean Kinder of Licking and of Licking; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Maudeline Davis Maxwell of Houston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at Fox Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Richardson officiating.

Memorials may be made to Texas County Memorial Hospital Hospice of Care.
