An inmate at the South Central Correctional Center at Licking died early Tuesday, the Missouri Department of Corrections said.
Wayne Johnston, 58, was declared dead at 6:54 a.m.
He was serving multiple life sentences for 10 counts of sodomy from Jackson County.
Johnston had been in prison since April 1997.
An autopsy will be conducted, the department said.
