EIGHTH-GRADE GIRLS EARN THEIR FIFTH VICTORY
Rhease Manier scored 12 points and Aliyah Walker had 11 as the Houston eighth-grade girls’ basketball team defeated Cabool 35-19 at home last Thursday.
The Lady Tigers led 16-8 at the half and finished the game with an 11-2 edge in the fourth quarter.
On Monday, Houston managed just five field goals in a 33-14 defeat at Liberty.
Walker led the Lady Tigers (5-3) with seven points. Carlee Curtis added five.
HMS BOYS LOSE HOME GAMES
The Houston Middle School boys’ basketball teams lost a pair of home games last Tuesday to Ava.
Brady Brookshire scored 10 points and John Kimrey added eight in the seventh grade’s 30-27 defeat.
In the eighth-grade game, Garyn Hall had nine points and Colton Stewart scored eight in the Tigers’ 43-24 defeat.
Both teams are looking for their first wins of the season.
