Paul Foster, 95, son of Joseph P. and Nellie (Parks) Foster, was born Feb. 25, 1923, in Houston, Mo. He passed away Nov. 12, 2018, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Isaac, Joseph (Judd), Perry and George (Rusty); three sisters, Kathleen, Hannah and Ruby Isabel; and son-in-law, Joel Vaccaro.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Josephine Irene (Young) Foster; three children, Harley of Houston, Mo., Sally (Foster) Vaccaro of St. Charles and Paul Jr. of Houston, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jessica Vaccaro of St. Peters, Amanda (Vaccaro) Malone of St. Peters, Victoria (Vaccaro) Chouklina of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Tara (Foster) Peacock of Wright City, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren who adored him; along with many nieces and nephews who he loved to spend time with. Paul never met a stranger and was friends with many.
Paul lived in San Diego, Calif., and Colorado Springs, Colo., before St. Louis, where he worked many years as a bricklayer. He belonged to the bricklayers union. Paul was proud of all the commercial buildings around the St. Louis area he had a part in. He liked to point them out and usually had a story to go with them. He loved his job and it showed. After retiring, he returned to the family farm in Houston, Mo., where he resided until his final days.
P.J. (as some would call him) loved working his farm, raising cattle, making hay, hunting or tending to his garden. He was a member of the Masons as a Master Mason. He spent the summer season keeping up the St. Louis Cardinals.
They enjoyed many a night playing cards with close friends, Joye and Beulah. Paul and Josephine lovingly cared for many, both young and old throughout their years.
Paul was a family man and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren kept him young. He enjoyed life and found the beauty in everything. He felt everyday was a blessing from God. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
