Here is some key information on voting for the upcoming November General Election.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE
In Missouri, you must be registered to vote by Wednesday, Oct. 9, to vote in the 2024 presidential election. Check that your voter information is correct on the Missouri Secretary of State’s website. (https://voteroutreach.sos.mo.gov/portal/)
If you have moved within Missouri or from out of state or changed your name, you’ll need to register to vote again on the Missouri Secretary of State’s website. (https://s1.sos.mo.gov/elections/voterregistration/)
You can also go to the county clerk’s office on the upper level of the Texas County Administrative Center on North Grand Avenue in downtown Houston, a library or a driver’s license office. The forms to register to vote for the first time and to change a registration are the same.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN INACTIVE VOTER IN MISSOURI?
Missouri has 506,575 inactive voters as of August 2024, according to data provided by the secretary of state’s Office. That’s approximately 12% of all registered voters. Missouri might decide you’re an inactive voter if you move without providing a forwarding address to the U.S. Postal Service or don’t respond to a notice within 30 days. As of now, voters who didn’t cast a ballot in the 2022 midterm might be labeled as inactive.
