The Texas County Coroner’s office answered 23 calls in October 2024, according to a report.
In the community, there were 16 natural deaths, including four deaths due to cancer; three due to myocardial infarction (heart attack); two due to heart failure, two due to lung disease; one due to stroke; one due to pneumonia; one due to pulmonary embolism, one due to cardiac arrhythmia and one due to fetal demise (miscarriage).
There were six accidental deaths with two deaths due to falls, three deaths in a single family following a vehicle crash and one death due to choking on food.
One natural death occurred at South Central Correctional Center, the autopsy showed advanced coronary artery disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

My term will end Dec. 31. It has been my honor to serve Texas County over the last eight years, and I will remain available to assist the new coroner as needed in the transition.
