Texas County entered the second day of the fall firearms deer season in second place in Missouri, according to the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Hunters in the county have killed 779 deer. The breakdown: antlered bucks (460), button bucks (61) and does (258). A year ago on Sunday morning, the total was 1,120.

The top counties in the state are: Franklin (1,109), Texas (779), Pike (759), Macon (743), Benton (714) and Jefferson (688).

The season runs through Nov. 26.
