The Texas County “Shop with a Hero” program announced that it helped over 270 children and raised over $30,000 to support local children in need.
The annual event brought together a wide range of community partners, including churches, Texas County first responders, schools and local businesses and organizations, making it a collaborative effort that created lasting memories for children and families across the county.
This year’s program saw participation from all Texas County first responder departments, including law enforcement, fire and emergency medical personnel, who played an integral role in the event’s success. These heroes not only assisted children during the shopping spree but also helped build positive, supportive relationships between local youth and public safety officers. Their involvement underscored the strong bond between first responders and the community.
In addition to first responders, all Texas County schools and the Missouri Children’s Division played a significant role, helping identify children in need and ensuring they were able to take part in this heartwarming holiday tradition. Their collaboration was key in reaching as many children as possible.
“We are beyond grateful for the overwhelming support we received from all of our community partners,” said program organizer Bennie Cook. “This event would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of our first responders, local schools and our community. Together, we have made this holiday season brighter for more than 270 children in our community.”
The children were able to spend $100 to purchase toys, clothing, food and other items at Walmart. The event’s success highlights the generosity of Texas County’s residents, businesses and local organizations, who donated time, funds and resources to help children across the county have a better Christmas.
The Texas County Shop with a Hero program continues to demonstrate the power of community collaboration, bringing together churches, local heroes, schools, businesses and organizations to create a positive, lasting impact for children in need.
