Intercounty Electric serves customers in parts of 10 counties.

Intercounty Electric Cooperative issued this statement Monday evening:

At this time, we have under 100 meters without power. The outage map does not reflect the correct number as we have “back-fed” or re-routed electricity to as many homes as possible. These meters don’t show up as “reading” in our system, and so skew the numbers shown.

Our crews have reached the maximum number of hours they’re legally able to work without rest. And although they want to keep working, we’re sending them home to warm up and rest. With that said, restoration efforts will resume at daybreak tomorrow, January 7th.

Alan Quick, Director of Safety reports that, “the remaining areas are either hard to reach due to terrain, road conditions or have multiple issues that are just taking time to resolve.” One crew repaired the same few miles of line 3 times today as more trees continued to split and fall throughout the day.

We understand that it has been a long cold day for those members who are part of the 100 and we empathize with those struggles. Our crews will be well rested and have a full plan of attack for these remaining meters when they begin work in the morning.

Your support, encouragement and prayers have been greatly appreciated and we thank you for your continued patience.
