Organizers said a time-honored tradition — the Miss Merry Christmas Pageant — is returning to Houston this year.
The pageant is being rebooted by Shari McCallister and Cassie Carter. Young ladies from kindergarten through 12th grade will compete in age divisions for the titles of Miss Snowflake, Miss Mistletoe, Miss St. Nick and Miss Merry Christmas. This event is for any young lady residing in Texas County, with proceeds going toward a scholarship for a local graduating senior girl.
Young ladies will perform an opening number in a Christmas-themed outfit of their choice, perform talent and show their poise in evening gown/party dress. The sixth through 12th grade girls will also have an onstage question. The event is Nov. 17 at the Melba Performing Arts Center in downtown Houston.
