The Cabool school district announced that a 1994 graduate will become the superintendent on July 1. 

The board of education voted unanimously during its January meeting to hire Cheryl Manning – an educator with the district since 2000. She began her career as a middle school paraprofessional before teaching fifth and sixth grade math and becoming the middle school principal in 2009. 

“I consider it a true privilege to have this opportunity,” said Manning. “It is an exciting time to lead the Bulldogs, and I’m looking forward to the year ahead.” 

She will begin her new role on July 1, following Dr. Karl Janson’s retirement at the end of June. Janson has served in the role since 2018.
