A 25-year-old Plato man was killed Wednesday morning in a one-vehicle crash on Highway AW just north of Evening Shade, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.
Tpr. Nathan Poynter said a northbound 2021 Ram 1500 pickup driven by the victim ran off the right side of the highway before becoming airborne and striking a tree at about 8:48 a.m. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by Texas County Coroner Brent Honeycutt. The victim was not wearing a seat belt, and the truck was totaled. Next of kin was notified.
Members of the Roby Fire Department and Cpl. Travis Brown assisted at the scene.
It was the third fatality this year in Troop G, compared to none at the same time in 2024.
The patrol no longer identifies those injured or killed in accidents.
