An area man fell into a pond Saturday afternoon, and that sent first responders to an area north of Houston, authorities said.

In a call received just before 4 p.m., the man was reported to have fallen into an icy pond, and required rescue.

The Texas County Sheriff’s Department and Houston Rural Fire Department were called.

The man was taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital.

Separately, the City of Houston fire department was called later to a North Grand Avenue apartment where smoke could be detected.
