The City of Houston’s economic developer has announced his resignation, with his last day in office set for Feb. 7.

Citing injuries sustained during his time in the Army and as a police officer, Kevin Buck said ongoing health issues will require significant time away from work over the next year, making it unfair to the city for him to remain in the position. Buck began the role on Oct. 30, 2023. 

During his tenure, he played a key role in organizing a successful job fair, launching a summer festival and working with developers to spur housing development in the community.

Despite stepping away from the role, Buck plans to remain active in the community and is committed to continuing his involvement, including his service on the Houston Community Foundation.
