The newest officer with the Houston Police Department has several years of experience in the local law enforcement scene: Jeremy Wink.
Prior to joining the HPD, Wink, 25, spent about four years with the Texas County Sheriff’s Department. He is a graduate of Houston High School, and is married to his wife, Myrissa.
Following high school, Wink spent a couple of years working with cellular phone towers before entering the Law Enforcement Academy and hooking up with the TCSD in May of 2020. There, he started as a detention officer, then became a bailiff and eventually worked as a patrol deputy.

As a young boy, Wink dreamed of one day becoming a law enforcement officer.
“I’ve always had a knack for law enforcement, and I knew that was something I wanted to do when I got older,” he said. “I’m just happy to say I was able to achieve that.”
Wink’s first day with the HPD was Feb. 3.
“This department is great,” he said. “They equip their guys with some of the best equipment I know is around, and they’re more than willing to help out with anything, from a simple contact message to a bigger investigation that would require more eyes. They always make sure you’ve got what you need.”
“Jeremy is a proactive officer who brings a few years of experience to us from the Texas County Sheriff’s Office,” said HPD Chief Brad Evans. “We are excited to get him started and familiarize him with our department. Jeremy brings a great attitude and work ethic to the department, and I believe he will be an asset to our community.
“He is eager to learn, and we are excited to have him on board.”
Wink said he’s glad to be working in the law enforcement field in a community where most citizens are supportive of men and women in uniform.
“It’s great,” he said. “I’ve seen communities that aren’t very supportive of law enforcement and of course I’ve seen the way this community views it. It’s a comforting feeling knowing the community supports you.”
