A man from Licking was injured early Wednesday in an accident about four miles east of his hometown on Highway 32, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Msgt. Justin Piccinino said an eastbound GMC Sierra traveled off the highway and struck a tree at 3:40 a.m.

The 26-year-old driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. He had moderate injuries.

The vehicle was totaled.

The state patrol no longer releases names of persons involved in accidents, citing a fear that the information could be used in scams.
