The Houston Area Chamber of Commerce sold property on North U.S. 63 on Friday (March 14), according to the organization.
The “ball field property,” which is 28.82 acres within the city limits, was sold to Robert Wolfe Farms LLC and Family.
“On behalf of Bob Wolfe and Family, we are grateful for the opportunity to purchase the property from the chamber,” said Bob Wolfe. “Having used that property many times over the years, we knew the property and its potential well. All avenues of growth will be looked at extensively. As for near future use, it will primarily be used for agriculture-related needs.”
The chamber board provided its thoughts on the sale and potential use of the funds.
“The proceeds from this sale will play a crucial role in paying off our long-standing debt incurred over previous executive board and directors,” said the chamber board. “This step is essential in ensuring that we can operate with more confidence and reinvest in our community’s future, and return to the true mission and goals of what a chamber of commerce is structured to do. To be there for its community and business owners.”
According to the board, additional funds will be used for community building maintenance and events.
Current chamber board members are Morgan Patterson, president; Chelsye Scantlin, vice president; Kristie Miller, treasurer; Alicia Dixon, secretary; Kevin McGowen and Kevin Stilley.
