Missouri Department of Conservation staff from Montauk and Lost Valley hatcheries recently transported more than 200,000 4-inch rainbow trout into hatchery pools at Montauk.

Historic flooding in November halted production at the Montauk hatchery until it can be repaired.

Staff at Missouri Department of Conservation’s Lost Valley and Chesapeake hatcheries have raised rainbow trout from eggs and transferred  them to Montauk this spring.

This aspect of the statewide hatchery system working as one has greatly benefited the production of rainbow trout across the state, helping to limit gaps in production, the department said.
