A Solo man has been arrested in relation to a camper trailer fire at a residence on Oakdale Road, authorities said.

On Friday, the Houston Rural Fire Department responded to the scene before requesting law enforcement to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Texas County deputies and an investigator from the Missouri Division of Fire Safety investigated the scene and interviewed witnesses.

It was determined that Gary R. Alliston, 64, of Solo, intentionally set the camper trailer on fire. During questioning, Alliston stated he wanted the residents of the camper gone from the property. The residents of the camper were not home at the time of the fire. Alliston resides in a separate residence on the property which is rented from a third party.

Prosecuting Attorney Parke Stevens charged Alliston with first-degree arson, first-degree burglary and first-degree property damage.

He is being held in the Texas County Jail pending a $20,000 cash bond.
