The fourth annual “Rendezvous at the Ridge” is set for Saturday (May 10) at Big Rock Candy Mountain Resort in Jadwin.

The free event will begin at 9 a.m. and is presented by the Ozark Riverways Foundation, an organization based in Eminence that operates with a mission to “protect and promote the unique ecological, historical and recreational values of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways.”

Many food and craft vendors will be on hand, and numerous activities are scheduled:

  • 9 a.m.: Old Time River Camp (crafts, demonstrations, community information and native plant sale); Carving Class (bowls, spoons and more); beginning dulcimer class (with Duane Porterfield); Cornhusk Doll Class (with Patty Frisbee).
  • 10:30 a.m.: Summers at Cedar Grove (with Ben Timson); Children’s Story Hour and Face Painting (with Ms. Kate from the Salem Library).
  • 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.: Dulcimer Music by Duane Porterfield.
  • 1 p.m.: Mule Jumping Competition (in front of the stage); Beginning Dulcimer Class (with Duane Porterfield).
  • 3 p.m.: Brooks Blevins – The Missouri Scenic Rivers Fight.
  • 4:15 p.m.: Jack H. Ray – Recent Archaeological Investigations in Shannon County and at the Alley Mill Site and Cave Spring Dugout Canoe.
  • 5:15 – 6 p.m.: Fundraising Live Auction.
  • 6 p.m.: “Stompgrass” Music by The Kay Brothers (with ticket – $20 in advance or $30 at the gate; kids 12-and-under admitted free).

The Big Chill Grill at Big Rock Candy Mountain will serve food and drinks all day. The resort is located near Cedar Grove and the Current River on Highway B northeast of Raymondville. More information about it is available on its website or Facebook page.
