A 69-year-old Eminence man drowned Thursday afternoon in the Jacks Fork River at an Alley Springs campground, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

The man fell into the water, was unable to resurface and was swept downstream by the current, said MSgt. Brian Foster of the patrol. Next of kin has been notified.

It is the troop’s third drowning this year compared to one at the same time a year ago.

The patrol does not list the name of persons involved in accidents. It cites the threat of scams.
