The Missouri State High School Activities Association Class 1-3 State Championships track and field meet took place last Friday and Saturday in Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School.

Three girls from Houston competed in the Class 3 events at the meet. There were 16 competitors in each event.

Two HHS athletes competed on Friday.

Sophomore Summer Seago finished 15th in pole vault, clearing 2.52m (8’-3 ¼”) on her second attempt.

Lawson senior Kamryn Flores won with a vault of 3.66m (12-feet).

Sophomore Adyson Dailing came in 14th overall in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.89. Dailing (the HHS school record holder and Class 3 District 5 champion in the event) finished 7th in Heat 2.

Boonville junior Effie Morris took the gold medal with a time of 44.02.

Then on Saturday, HHS senior Kristen Ely placed 9th in the 800-meter run with a school-record time of 2:26.11 (shaving more than 2 seconds off the previous mark). Ely came into the meet as the Class 3 Sectionals 3 and Class 3 District 5 champion in the event.

Fatima sophomore Brie Massman won the race with a time of 2:19.39.

The Class 4-5 State Championships meet will take place this Friday and Saturday (May 30-31).
