The Houston R-1 School District board of education made several personnel decisions during a closed meeting on Tuesday, June 17. 

The resignation of LeAnn Edington, as instructional coach, at the end of the 2025-’26 school year was approved. Charlie Malam abstained from the vote. 

The following employments were approved: 

  • Garyn Hall, as middle school physical education/health teacher, volunteer chaperone for a high school baseball camp in Georgia and middle school assistant basketball coach, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. Malam abstained from the votes. 
  • Madison Reed, as middle school assistant volleyball coach, for the 2025-’26 school year. 
  • Conaley Aaron, as high school head softball coach and volunteer chaperone for a high school baseball camp in Georgia, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. Marty Merckling voted against his employment as softball coach.
  • Madelyn Riley, as paraprofessional, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Kirsty McDonald, as Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) paraprofessional at the Exceptional Child Cooperative (ECC), for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Joshua Kane, as ECSE paraprofessional at the ECC, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Breauna Pitts, as elementary teacher, for the 2025-’26 school year, pending a background check. 
  • Darcie Manion, as custodian, for the 2025-’26 school year. 

Members approved having building trades property at Meadowbrook Estates appraised. 

Board member Tressie Neugebauer was absent from the meeting that lasted just over an hour.
