Members of the Texas County Commission last week attended a ceremony with the American Legion as it began staffing the Texas County Historical and Military Museum on Grand Avenue in Houston.
It is housed in the building that was initially constructed as a World War I monument and serves to showcase the local heritage and contributions of the county’s military personnel and veterans. At the rear of the building is a genealogy library maintained by the Texas County Genealogical and Historical Society.
The ceremony was among items reported last week by the commission for Sept. 3-4 meetings.
In other matters, members:
•Met with the assessor on several issues.
•Heard the county clerk had attended a Missouri Sunshine and Open Meetings Law class at Pomona conducted by the Missouri attorney general’s office.
•Visited with David Scantlin to receive updates on FEMA reimbursements.
