Evans Funeral Home in downtown Houston hosted a community-oriented event on Thursday (Sept. 18) in recognition of the business being in the same location on Grand Avenue since 1925.

Since then, the firm has operated under multiple different names and several different owners. It has been owned by Gilbert Aguilar and Amanda Knoll since 2022.

The event included a ribbon-cutting and an open house (with food and prizes).

State Rep. Bennie Cook, right, presented Evans Funeral Home owners Gilbert Aguilar and Amanda Knoll with a framed proclamation recognizing the centennial anniversary of the business.
