The state Division of Fire Safety reports an undetermined cause of a Cabool apartment building fire near Cedar Bluff Avenue Tuesday morning.

“The structure was a mixed-use building comprising an apartment and a vacant business,” said a representative of the state Department of Public Safety. “It was a total loss and was mostly collapsed and consumed. Because of the extent of fire damage, no factual determination could be made as to the area of origin or cause. The fire was classified as undetermined.”

Around 2:14 a.m. Tuesday, fire departments from Cabool, Houston and Mountain Grove were dispatched to the old motel building that now serves as an apartment building. According to personnel, there were occupants in the building. No injuries were reported.

Houston sent one engine and four personnel to the scene.
