Houston Rural Fire Department personnel responded to two structure fires Tuesday.
The first was a call around 2 p.m. to Burton Branch Road in the Bucyrus area, where the unoccupied residence was in flames, with fire through the roof upon arrival, said department personnel.
Around 7:30 p.m., firefighters responded to a flue fire on Keenview Drive in the Houston area that extended into the frame structure and attic space before being detected, the department said.
Firefighters were able to extinguish and limit the fire’s spread. Houston Rural Fire Department was the sole department on both scenes, with five apparatus and 13 personnel.
Texas County Memorial Hospital emergency medical services (EMS) was on the scene as well providing medical assistance.
