On Nov. 16, Texas County was in fourth place in the fall firearms deer season in Missouri.

Texas County enters the second day of the fall firearms deer season in fourth place in Missouri, according to the Missouri Department of Conservation figures.

Hunters in Texas County harvested 673 deer on opening day with temperatures at record levels. The breakdown in the county: antlered bucks (488), button bucks (42) and does (143).

Leaders in the state are: Franklin (897), Howell (698), Wayne (682), Texas (673) and Bollinger (632).

The kill is down in Texas County. Last year’s first day number was 779.

The season runs through Nov. 25.
