A man from Licking was seriously injured Tuesday night in an accident in Maries County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Tpr. Collin Clinton said a northbound 2005 Ford Escape driven by the 60-year-old man failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the right side of the roadway and overturned on U.S. 63 just south of Highway P.

The driver, Ricky D. Carender, was flown to University Hospital in Columbia. The vehicle was totaled. The driver was wearing a seat belt.

Assisting at the scene were a state trooper, Maries County Sheriff’s Department, St. James Ambulance District and Vichy Fire Department.

Carender is charged with DWI – alcohol, careless and imprudent driving and failure to maintain the right half of the roadway, the patrol said.
